"Wishing the World Away" was written at a time in my life where I was seeing nothing but negative headlines on the news. Everywhere I looked it was nothing but depressing, negative news. Where was the hope? Where was the light? I had to sit down and pen these feelings to paper, with the conclusion ultimately being that no matter how rough the world gets, we must never forget to pray.
lyrics
VERSE I
Bombs going off in the Middle East
And battles going on in New York’s Streets
It never seems to change, no…
The headlines speak of tragedy
Breaking news stories a formality
It’s nothing new to me, no…
CHORUS
(But) I won’t wish the world away
The good and the bad will come anyway
We outta’ slow down, live day by day
And start loving life without delay
VERSE II
Now I don’t claim to know it all
All I know, is something’s wrong
And its killing me, and the human race
We always dwell on what is wrong
Can’t stay positive for very long
It doesn’t make sense to me, no…
TAG
The very worst part is we live so well
We live so good that we can’t even tell
We’re stuck inside, the very walls we exemplify
FINAL CHORUS
We live in the world, come what may
Together we were made, together we’ll stay
If the goin’ gets tough, we outta’ pray
Better than wishing the world away
