This song is pretty straight forward in its meaning: pure summer euphoria. I've been lucky to have so many great friends, and made so many memories each summer. On top of the anticipated adventures still to come, I began dating my future wife, and wanted to include a line or two about the high I got when I got her phone number. What can I say, I knew it was going to be a good summer!
lyrics
VERSE I
Asking for your number, just last summer
Was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do
My heart was shaking, knees were quaking
At the prospect, of talking to you
TAG
So glad that I did
Took the chance and now I’m singing
CHORUS
I declare, that it is just not fair
For you to look the way you do,
It’s just another reason, another reason why
I am stranded, and I’ve abandoned
Any chance at all, that I might ever fall
Out of this love, and out of love with you
VERSE II
Asking for a first kiss, I could not resist
Asking for a second one
Taking up my one chance, while in a nervous stance
My heart was beating faster,
Than a bullet from a gun
BRIDGE
Let’s catch a train, out of here
And never get off till the coast is clear
Just knowing that I have you here
Makes all my fears just disappear
Keep moving forward, we’re never looking back
Just dance to the rhythm, of the train tracks
We’ll ride all day, until the sky is black
We’re never looking back, we’re never looking back
