One of my favorite scriptures from the New Testament is the story of the prodigal son, and how he was welcomed back even after abandoning his family. It's such a powerful message, and I felt inspired to write about it. I really wanted this song to have musical emphasis, so I specifically arranged it to be power rock song, with plenty of dynamics in mind.
lyrics
VERSE I
When you wake up, with the moon-lit sky
With no one near, but passers-by
When the dark feels, like you’re halfway home
There’s no time then, to feel alone
TAG
When you’re far from home, darkness is all you know
On the run, you’ve lost control, losing your way in the snow
CHORUS
Might be time to come back home
Wave goodbye to the unknown
We’re not meant to be alone
We’re not meant to be alone
Let loneliness be memories
And fade away to distant dreams
Sing the song of the redeemed
Sing the song of the redeemed
VERSE II
I knew the man, who walked away
Shunned his Father’s hand, and went his own way
His treasures gone, his fortunes wasted
Nothing left, but sorrow tasted
I saw the man, as he turned his back
Left his home, while the sky was black
Never to return, and make his own fate
Who would leave, from the garden gates?
