about

I co-wrote this song with Michelle Kaplin and Alex Josephs while I was in a fantastic band called The Drive. We probably wrote close to a dozen songs together, but this one will always be one my favorites. I vividly remember working with Michelle as she penned the lyrics as I fiddled with the chord arrangement in her dorm room. I remember when we finished a rough outline, we immediately called in some our friends across the hall to give us some feedback (which was all positive, of course!). We met with Alex to add a lead guitar section, and by the time it was done, we had what I considered a masterpiece. To this day, it's still one of my favorite songs to play.

lyrics

NOWHERE ELSE TO GO
(Lyrics by Michelle Kaplan)

VERSE I
Where are you going? I’m so confused
And I’ve been so cold.
What are you doing? Did you see me out there,
Calling your name? You took it back.
Out in the darkness, I just can’t find
Why can’t you just, take me aside?
Or set me free? Cause unconsciously,
I’ve trapped myself, unfortunately.

TAG
I’ve never been the kind to fall far behind.
But even now the words they’re so hard to find.

CHORUS
NO WHERE LEFT TO TURN
AND HONESTLY THERE’S NOTHING I CAN LEARN
I CANT BELIEVE THERE’S
NO WHERE ELSE TO GO, WHEN I’VE FALLEN BELOW, WHERE I DON’T EVEN KNOW

VERSE II
Once there was something, I could just see
Now you just, took it away
Kept it in secret, kept me unwound,
Tell me now, why are you doing this?
You bottled my past, and stole it to hold
I cannot bare this world that you made for me
But I don’t know how, to escape from you now
I’m tired, I must rest, but I’ll stand here you know me and that

TAG
I’ve never been the kind to fall far behind.
But even now the words they’re so hard to find.

BRIDGE
There's just no reason that I can't stop right now
I'm fallen far behind, and far to the ground
So if I'm not myself at this present time
Just know that I have, figured out why
