During my junior and senior year of college, I was in an awesome band called "Actus Reus". "No Stopping Now" was a song written solely for the purpose of adding an energetic tune to our set list. We had a lot of good songs and covers, but we lacked a song to start a show with a bang. So, with about two weeks to our first show at EJ's Landing in College Park, I sat down and wrote this jam and pitched it the guys. Thankfully, they are all so talented so it wasn't a big deal for them to pick it up quickly. In regards to the song itself, it's pretty self explanatory in its meaning. I was a senior in college, wrapping up my final semester and about to step into the world. While writing the song, I reflected back on all I had accomplished, and all the things I still wanted to do, and thought to myself, "there's no stopping now!"
lyrics
VERSE I
Figure out, why I’m slowing down
When I never had this figured out
All this time I felt so fine, all this time I felt so fine
But here I am in the here and now
And within range of my every doubt
All this time I felt so fine, all this time I felt so fine
CHORUS
(Slow it down) Just let me catch my breath, I’ll tell you
(What I figured out) Life’s too short to be held down
(I can’t stop now) I’ll hold my breath and not look down
(I’m gaining ground) Not a thing to stop me now
VERSE II
Life’s so fast, that it wears me down
In the info age, where I outta’ know how
How to figure it out, how to figure it out
Take it fast, or take it slow
And to where I do not know
Guess I’ll go with the flow, guess I’ll go with the flow
BRIDGE
Its fine now, taking a time out
Laying it down, all my anxieties
Its alright, having a good time
Take it in stride, from the left to the right
