about

In the early 2000s, pop-punk began its golden age. And if pop-punk had one distinct trademark, it was snarky breakup songs. And even though I never had any nasty breakups, I had a few life experiences that allowed me to channel my inner Blink 182 and write about all the tragedy and drama of teenage love.

lyrics

VERSE I
You think that I don’t even realize
Those thoughts goin’ on behind those darkened eyes
And I know you, and I know just how you think
And I know you, would leave me here to sink
That’s where our story will begin, a tale of two lovers though one has been
Through all the fire and the flames, just so you would recall his name

CHORUS
But will you remember this, a tragedy started with just one kiss
And though you say that you’ll find bliss, through all your faults and ignorance
Well I’ve heard enough, and I’ve seen enough, and I’ve had enough
Of your excuse for love

VERSE II
Every day the same routine
Searching for things you think you need
Though the problem lies within, you blame it on where you’ve been
And I won’t stay, waiting for you to change your ways
That’s where our story continues now, at the bitter end with darkened clouds
There’s only a few pages left to write, better stop and start to make your mind

BRIDGE
Epilogue, you left me hanging, to this love I could not have
Strange as it seems, I’m not bitter you see, for I know there’s one whose meant for me

ENDING CHORUS
But you will remember this, a tragedy started with just one kiss
And though you say that you’ll find bliss, through all your faults and ignorance
I can’t say I pity you, for all those things you put me through
This may just seem like hurtful tact, but I’m sorry love I wont be back
