I wrote "Departure" for two reasons. The first was to cope with watching some people in my life forget about their friends as they pursued other things, whether it be jobs, other interests, or other friends altogether. The second reason was to remember what that felt like to me, and to remind myself never to discard those people closest to me in the pursuit of other things. After all, the relationships we have with our family and friends is the most important thing we have.
lyrics
VERSE I
One more time, if you’d be so kind
Lay it on the line just to speak your mind
With reasons like seasons, that constantly change
I just want the truth, before we part our ways
TAG
Cause you know, I need it most
And the very worst part is it cuts so close
To me
CHORUS
Living up the life of luxury now
Say goodbye to those
You left without
Got your name in lights, and I wonder just how
You were planning on
Just moving on
VERSE II
Whether or not, I should read your thoughts
Wish you saw the past but I guess you forgot
That sometimes people change, and though we’re not the same
I never thought you’d leave, once you caught your light and fame
TAG
But you know, I’ll let you go
Guess I’m still clinging to a ray of hope
BRIDGE
Where have you gone, it seems so long
Leaving me wandering, if I’ve done you wrong
You set your mind, to chase a dream
Been gone ever since, or so it seems
TAG
But you know, I need you most
And the very worst part is you cut so close
To me, to me, to me, to me
